The members of Craven Open Door are seen here celebrating that the National Lottery have just awarded them £7,440 funding.
Craven Open Door is a social club that was formed as a charity after North Yorkshire 4Youth stopped funding it as part of cut-backs.
We meet on a Tuesday’s between 3:45 – 6:30 we welcome anyone from the age of 16 upwards with any level of learning difficulties.
The funding will enable us to put together a program of their choice within their capabilities delivered by skilled professionals, albeit simple photography, arts and craft maybe music drumming singing etc.
We will also be able to go out on trips visit matrix bowl for a game and tea out, or perhaps a Christmas shopping trip. We will certainly go out for a Christmas meal the Craven Heifer always make us welcome.
This is all part of socialising with the outside world making people aware of our existence said leader Gordon Fothergill.
He also remarked "I know we do not reach everyone across Craven at the moment. But this is our long term ambition to do so".
