Members of Craven Open Door had a busy summer this year. Our usual weekly
meetings were supplemented by two excellent trips, first to the Aquarium at
Lakeside, near Windermere and the second to the East Lancashire Railway at Bury.
The trip to Lake District took place on Tuesday 22 July and almost all members and
carers were able to attend. Members boarded the coach in Skipton and enjoyed the
journey to Cumbria where our first stop was the Aquarium at Lakeside.

This was a super visit with lots to see including all sorts of aquatic life including fish
and otters. Then there were ducks, all sorts of reptiles and amphibians and best of
all the underwater tunnel where you seem to be completely surrounded by water!
The fun didn’t stop there – oh no – there was more to come as we boarded the boat
which would take us on a scenic tour of Lake Windermere. The weather was
wonderful, the scenery even better – and 40 minutes later we stepped off at
Windermere to be met by the coach and it was time to journey home.
A great day out for everyone!
